The HUD

Superstition Valley uses the One World of Darkness (1WoD) HUD. This HUD includes the following features:

  • Dice Roller: The primary purpose of the HUD is to roll the dice used by the 1WoD system -- normally pools of d10s, which generate "successes" used to determine the outcome of various actions.

  • RP Titler: Once you have entered your character's name into the HUD, it will appear above your head. Below that is an optional Titler, which you may use to display some descriptive flavor text.

  • Chat Switch: By starting posts with "/2" in local (nearby) chat, the HUD will replace your SL account name with your character name, as entered into the titler.

The Basics
The critical features of the HUD can be found along the bottom -- Opening and Closing, Switching Characters, and Rolling Dice.

Advanced features can be found along the left edge of the open HUD -- Renaming Characters, Changing the Titler text, Changing the Color of the titler's text, and a link to the Website.

Dice Roller
There two kinds of dice rolls in 1WoD .... Initiative, and normal dice pools.

Initiative
To determine post order when combat begins, each character rolls Initiative by clicking the Initiative button and entering their Initiative Modifier (usually Dexterity + Alertness).

Normal Roll (Dice Pool)
All other rolls are determined by Dice Pools, a number of d10s based on the character's relevant statistics. The HUD will perform any necessarily re-rolls, and count up your successes for you.

Titler
The Titler displays your character's name above your avi's head, along with a few lines of optional RP-enhancement text. The HUD can store up to 3 characters, and can switch the color of the text displayed.

Name
To enter a Name for your character, click the Name button on the full HUD. The will give you a pop-up menu which allows you to choose which character you'd like to re-name. If the text box times out too quickly, try trying the name in a text file, then copy-pasting it in!

Titler
To enter a Title for your character, click the Titler button on the full HUD. The will give you a pop-up menu which allows you to choose which character you'd like to give a title to. If the text box times out too quickly, try trying the title in a text file, then copy-pasting it in!

Color
To change the color of the name and titler display text, click the Color button on the full HUD. This will give you a pop-up menu which allows you to select from several colors.

Switch Characters
To choose between characters, or to display "OOC" or "AFK" messages, click on the tiny silhouette people at the bottom of the HUD. This will give you a pop-up menu which allows you to select which character or message to display.
